State Police seek help finding SUV involved in deputy’s fatal chase

LANSING, Mich. — A suspect is in custody but investigators are still looking for the SUV Ingham County Deputy Grant Whittaker was chasing when he was killed.

Whittaker’s cruiser crashed during the chase outside Stockbridge in the early hours of Dec. 7. John Kelsey II, 34, faces charges in the chase and Whittaker’s death.

Friday, Michigan State Police issued a public plea for help locating the white 2003 GMC Denali caught in Whittaker’s dash cam video during the pursuit.

MSP notes the plate on the SUV may have been changed, but anyone with information should call the MSP tip line at 517-331-5634.
