BOISE, Idaho — Air Force’s triple option did what it does, but it was the defense making the play of the game — and keeping the Western Michigan Broncos winless in bowl games.

Dexter Walker returned a Zach Terrell fumble 58 yards for a touchdown with WMU trailing 23-17 in the fourth quarter — and the Falcons ran for 290 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-24 win in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Saturday inside a rainy Albertsons Stadium.

Terrell led the Broncos’ offense both through the air and on the ground, passing for 297 yards and running for 61 more. The sophomore quarterback also threw three touchdowns to Corey Davis, who led WMU with eight catches for 176 yards.

MAC Offensive Player of the Year Jarvion Franklin was held to just 26 yards on 12 carries — and still didn’t appear to be at full strength after fighting injuries to end the regular season.

WMU (8-5) is now 0-6 all-time in bowl games.
