VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A 15-year-old is in custody after police say he tried to kill his brother Friday.

According to the Michigan State Police, on Friday troopers from MSP’s Paw Paw Post were called to a residence just north of Red Arrow Highway in Antwerp Township for a report of a stabbing. The investigation showed that a 15-year-old boy stabbed his older brother with a steak knife following a verbal confrontation.

Upon police officers’ arrival, the suspect fled the scene, but was apprehended without incident after a short foot chase. Police say he was being held on an attempted murder charge.

The victim was taken to Bronson Hospital where he was treated and released.

The incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police.
