GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--  When temperatures get into the single digits and plunge lower because of the subzero wind chills, it can be extremely difficult for the less-fortunate to stay warm.

Some local shelters want to raise awareness of the services they provide.

Degage Ministries extends its dining room hours during the winter months. Essentially, it's open from 7am to 8pm with an hour break between 11:30am and 12:30pm.

They also offer free private showers, low-cost laundromat and a women's center.

Mel Trotter Ministries opens its doors for everyone, including those who may have been asked to leave for certain reasons in the past. The shelter has the ability to accommodate more men than women and children.

The Holland Rescue Mission also opens its doors for all. Year round, the shelter provides three meals a day and even has a Sack Lunch program.

The Kalamazoo Gospel Missionis available for those living in Kalamazoo.
