GRAND RAPIDS, Mich --  Fox17 talked to Realtors across West Michigan and they say inventory is low and prices are going up.

We caught up with Amanda and Greg Partlo. The couple just moved to West Michigan and are looking for a new home.
They were not quite sure what to expect until they talked to Cheryl Grant from Keller Williams North.
She helped to clear things up for the couple. " There is not a ton out there that is available....  a lot of it is out
of our price range, so we are trying to figure out what we can afford
in the right area," says Amanda Partlo.

The Partlo's are just beginning the process of looking for a new home
and quickly realized finding their dream home may not be so easy.
Grant say inventory is low and houses are going fast, "just this week I
listed an absolutely beautiful home in Ada. I listed it Monday about
noon and we closed the deal this morning at about
10 o'clock that is how quickly it sold, we had 12 people who wanted to see it".

Almost every realtor we talked to had the same story. Dave Martin from Greenridge Reality believes the housing market is
strong partly because interest rates are low and people feel more secure. "People are more confident in the economy and what they can do. I
think people are more inclined to have home ownership", says Martin.

Martin says it is cheaper right now to buy than to rent,
But for some couples like the Amanda and Greg Partlo, renting may be their best option for now.
Houses are going fast, so buying their dream house at the right price may be out of reach for now.
