MUSKEGON, Mich. -- Deyonta Davis has joined a very exclusive club.

The Muskegon senior power forward/center was one of 24 high school boys' basketball players from around the country to be named a McDonald's All-American on Wednesday, making Davis just the third player from West Michigan to receive the honor.

Davis, who has singed a national letter of intent to play at Michigan State, is averaging 20 points, 16.9 rebounds, and 7.5 blocks for the defending Class A state champion Big Reds. He recorded a triple-double in Tuesday's 79-40 win over Grand Rapids Union, scoring 15 points, pulling down 16 rebounds, and blocking 12 shots.

The 6-foot-9, 210-pound senior is the first McDonald's All-American from West Michigan since Battle Creek Central's Kenyon Murray in 1992. South Christian's Matt Steigenga was the first West Michigander to be named to the team back in 1988. Davis is the only representative from the entire state of Michigan this year.

The McDonald's All-America Game will be played on April 1 at 9:00 p.m. ET at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
