Van struck by train near Albion College

ALBION, Mich. — A van was struck by a train near Albion College Wednesday evening.

It happened just before 7:00 p.m. on Huron Street in Albion.

The Albion Department of Public Safety said the van became stuck on the railroad tracks after the driver turned onto the sidewalk, missing the roadway.

An eastbound freight train was able to stop as its engine hit the van. There were no injuries reported and only minor damage was done to the vehicle.
