Realtor is among 2 drivers hurt in Ottawa County crash

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A well known Realtor was among two people injured in a traffic crash at a Georgetown Township intersection Monday afternoon.

At 3:31 p.m. Monday, Clarence Schaafsma, 87, of Jenison was northbound on Cottonwood Drive and turned left onto Elmwood Drive and into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by Ronald Villerius, 55, of Jenison. Villerius was on Cottonwood and was in the right lane approaching the intersection when Schaafsma turned in front of him and the two collided.

Both vehicles left the roadway after the collision.

Schaafsma was transported to Metro Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Monday night, while Villerius was transported to Spectrum Hospital, where he also was listed in stable condition later Monday.

Both Schaafsma and Villerius were wearing seat belts at the time of impact.

Villerius is a Realtor with Five Star Real Estate’s office in Grandville.
