MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — The Muskegon Heights fire department says a fatal fire that killed Jennifer Gillis is now considered an arson.

The fire broke out the morning of Dec. 31 at an abandoned home in the 2800 block of Baker Street.

Investigators say there were two people inside of the house.   One person got out, but Gillis was trapped on the second floor. Firefighters rescued Gillis by pulling her from the burning home.

She was taken to the hospital and was on life support for several days.  Gillis eventually died from her injuries.
