ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich.–More than a thousand people are without power in St. Joseph County Saturday morning.

As of around 6:30 a.m., Consumer’s Energy reps said more than 2,400 people were affected in the area.

According to the St. Joseph County E-911 Central Dispatch, the major power outage happened just before 5 a.m. Currently, it’s affecting those living in Centreville, Nottawa Township, Mendon Township, Colon Township, and Florence Township.

Dispatchers said they believe it’s due to a blown transformer, though Consumer’s Energy reps said they haven’t found a cause yet. They don’t expect full power to be restored until noon.

Authorities ask that those affected don’t call 911 unless there’s an emergency. For information regarding outages in your area, you can call Consumer’s Energy at 800-477-5050.

FOX 17 will continue following this story, and update it as we get more information.
