(CNN) — Marco Rubio announced Monday in Miami that he is seeking the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
“Grounded by the lessons of our history, but inspired by the promise of our future, I announce my candidacy for President of the United States of America,” he said.
The 43-year old freshman senator from Florida seeks to paint himself as the best choice to lead America in the 21st Century — A New American Century. He is the third major contender for the Republican Party nomination to throw his hat into the ring — following his Senate colleagues Ted Cruz and Rand Paul in the last few weeks.
