MICHIGAN — Three cases of the canine flu have been confirmed in Michigan, including two in Kent County.

The other case is in Macomb County, Michigan Department of Agriculture spokesperson Jennifer Holton said.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) website, canine influenza is highly contagious.  Symptoms include coughing, sneezing, lethargy, fever and nasal discharge, the AVMA website says.

Most dogs recover within two to three weeks.

Holton said while these three cases were reported to the state, veterinarians are not required to report it.
