Mecosta County residents warned of police impersonation scam

MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. — Police are warning residents of possible phone scam.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department said people were receiving calls from a person with a heavy accent saying the with the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department or the Big Rapids Police Department. Police also said the caller I.D. also comes up as those agencies. They say this is a scam and warn you not to give the suspicious caller any personal information.
