BOSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 5-year-old boy was injured after an ATV he was riding in tipped on its side and pinned the boy’s arm under the roll bar.

The driver, identified as Connor Sleighter of Caledonia was driving the vehicle with his niece and nephew inside when a sharp turn tipped the ATV, according to a release from the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office. The roll bar left a ‘severe laceration’ on the boy’s arm.

Authorities said Sleighter was able to tip the Polaris Ranger upright to drive home and call 911.

AeroMed was called in to take the boy to a hospital in Grand Rapids. His injuries are not life threatening, according to authorities.

Police said everyone in the ATV was wearing a seatbelt and they don’t believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
