ROCKFORD & BELMONT/RICHLAND TWP, Mich. –

Nearly 1,700 homes in the Rockford area are without power due to equipment issues from a different sub-station northeast of the Plainfield sub-station that faced issues Saturday    afternoon.

Consumers Energy says that the power went out at approximately 6:30 a.m. Sunday. It was due to a circuit lockout in the sub-station which is caused by an interruption to the flow of electricity.

A spokesperson for Consumers Energy stated that the issue is currently being investigated and that they hope to restore power to the customers in that area by 9:15 a.m. Sunday.

In regards to Richland Township, a total of 1,860 homes were without power at approximately 5:25 a.m. Sunday. Kalamazoo County was the worst with 1,000 homes affected by the outage.

Consumers Energy has restored power to the area slowly as Kalamazoo County dropped to 530, Barry is down to 100, and Calhoun only has 70 homes without power still.

A total of 700 homes are still affected by the storm that caused two trees to topple over a power line at N. 35th St. and East CD Ave.
