CLINTON TWP., Mich. – The Macomb County Sheriff’s Department has released dashcam video of a high speed chase that ended with a teen crashing into a river and then swimming across it.

The incident happened Thursday, June 25th at about 5:20am.  A deputy saw a Chevy Impala swerve on Joy Blvd. in Clinton Township narrowly missing a pedestrian walking on the shoulder.  The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, but it sped off, driving across lawns of businesses, hitting mailboxes along the way.

The driver, a 16-year-old from Macomb Township finally drove down a dead-end into the Clinton River.  He got out of the car and swam across the river and tried to hide on the other side.  Deputies found him and needed to taser him to get him into custody.

He is being charged in juvenile court for Larceny, Possession of Marijuana, Felonious Assault, Fleeing and Eluding, Resisting and Obstructing Arrest, and Unlawfully Driving Away.
