MUSKEGON CO. Mich. - Community members in Muskegon County gathered outside Oakridge High School to remember a mother of four who died after being shot in the head in Muskegon Heights.

A balloon release vigil was held outside the high school with family, friends, and students writing prayerful notes to remember the love Peggy Sue Everett showed them before being taken off life support Wednesday. Peggy was just 36-years-old.

In honor of her untimely death, co-workers started up the bus, symbolically driving to Oakridge High School in memory of the woman who touched so many lives in the short year that she worked at the district.

The entire district was invited to the gathering where people wrote messages on balloons. Tear-filled eyes watched as they released them, followed by a hand-in-hand prayer for Everett. Everyone Fox 17 spoke with was still in shock just days after her death, wondering how they will move on without her.

Everett's four children range in age from 7 to 17-years-old. There is a gofundmeaccount helping the family with funeral expenses and other costs during this tough time.

Meanwhile, no arrests have been made following Everette's death and investigators have not released a motive. Anyone with information is asked to call the Muskegon Heights Detective Bureau at 231-733-8900 or call Silent Observer at 72-Crime.
