Recall Alert: YoYo Sparklers recalled for burn hazard

BETHESDA, Md. — The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced new recalls this week, with one in particular that parents may want to check out, if they have fireworks left over from the Fourth of July.

Below is the information on these recent recalls.

Jake’s Fireworks ‘YoYo Sparklers’ — The sparklers burn faster and with a larger flame than normal and can burn down the stick towards users’ hands, posing a burn hazard.   About 651,500 units are impacted.  Jake’s has received 12 reports of incidents of the sparklers burning rapidly down the stick towards users’ hands resulting in second degree and third degree burns to consumers hands.  Jake’s has a location on 28th Street in Kentwood.  Consumers are urged to return the sparklers for a refund.  Click here for more information on this recall.

Epoca International Glass Whistle Kettle — The bottom portion of glass vessel can break when heated and the contents can spill, posing laceration and burn hazards.  About 113,000 units are impacted.  The firm received nine reports of incidents, including three injuries and one report of property damage valued at $200.   These kettles are sold at Meijer, Target, and many other national retailers.  Refunds are available.  Click here for more information on this recall.
