HOLLAND, Mich. — Residents in Holland gathered at Washington and 8th Street to watch one of two generators be moved to the new Holland Energy Park on Sunday.

The Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) will capture waste heat from the power generation process and then use it to create the steam that drives Holland’s steam turbine generator and ultimately the downtown snowmelt system. In addition, those generators will eventually allow the Holland Board of Public Works to expand the city’s existing snowmelt system.

Each generator has two components, which each require two trips to the park.

The schedule to transport those parts to the Holland Energy Park are as follows:

· Sunday, August 9 – 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

· Monday, August 10 – 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

· Tuesday, August 11 – 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

· Wednesday, August 12 -10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

City officials are warning drivers to avoid the area along the lake shore in Holland until they complete the transportation.

The Holland Energy Park is set to open in December of 2016 and will be fully operational in February of 2017.
