ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Many people don’t like going to work in the morning. The social media managers and information technology staff of the University of Michigan will be dreading it as well.
Starting around 4:00am, someone started posting celebrity and salicious posts as Michigan Football on their Facebook page. As of 8:00am, the posts were still there. At about 8:30am, the page disappeared.
At about 10:00am, the operators of the page apologized and said that the problem had been fixed. At about noon, the hacking started again.
Fans – Early this morning, Facebook accounts for Michigan Athletics, football and men’s basketball were compromised. Thanks to diligent work on behalf of our partners at the University of Michigan and at Facebook, we have resolved the situation and deleted any offensive posts.
