MORLEY, Mich. — A K-9 officer with the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department assisted deputies in catching a suspected gas station thief early Thursday morning in Morley.

Mecosta County deputies were dispatched to the Citgo gas station at 301 South Cass Street around 2:34 a.m. in reference to a business alarm that had been tripped.  Deputies had found someone had thrown rocks through a glass door at the gas station and stolen cigarettes and cash.

The investigation led to Travis Albaugh, 20, of White Cloud, who was located at a home on 190th Avenue in Morley.  Deputies say the police dog assisted in the arrest after dealing with the same suspect earlier in the evening.

Albaugh was arraigned on charges of felony breaking and entering and felony violation of having a controlled substance.  He’s currently being held behind bars on $70,000 bond.
