KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- FOX 17 has obtained new footage of a high speed chase following a home invasion back on July 31. The break-in happened at a home on Northampton Road in the early morning hours.

One of the residents awoke to  the sound of a car alarm. When they got up to investigate, they discovered items missing from the home, including a 2014 Ford Explorer. As police looked around the house and took a report, the resident spotted the SUV taking a turn down a road not far away.

Police gave pursuit, and the chase achieved high speeds despite its short duration of roughly two minutes. The chase ended when the Explorer crashed into a retention wall at the corner of Gorham Lane and Devonshire Avenue.

Suspects led police on a brief foot chase before being apprehended without incident.

Published reports indicate the two suspects are Jemari Matthews and Martavious Compton, both 18-year-old residents of Kalamazoo. The pair were charged with home invasion, fleeing and eluding, motor vehicle theft, possession of marijuana, and resisting and obstructing arrest. The charges are pending review by the prosecutor's office.
