Recall notice: Children’s water bottles recalled due to choking hazard

BETHESDA, Md. — The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of certain children’s water bottles, because children are ending up spitting out pieces of broken plastic.

Zac Designs 26-ounce water bottles — The inner plastic straw in the flip-top portion of the twist-off cap can break, posing a choking hazard.  About 178,000 units are impacted in the recall.   The water bottles were sold exclusively at Target stores in a “Back-to-College” promotion. The water bottles have popular characters that include super heroes, Minions, and many others.

Zak Designs has received nine reports of the inner plastic straw in the flip-top portion of the cap breaking, including seven reports of plastic fragments spit out by children using the bottle.
