GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One of the original owners of Michigan’s oldest LGBT- owned and operated bar – The Apartment Lounge in Grand Rapids – has passed away.
According to the bar’s Facebook page, Milton Lennox passed away Tuesday night at the age of 81.
He is survived by his partner, Ed Ladner. They were together for 52 years. The couple founded The Apartment Lounge together in 1972.
Over the years both Ed and Milt have been involved in community organizations, including helping to fund the AIDS Research Center.
According to a post on the bar's Facebook page, no funeral will be held. Instead, Milt requested a memorial service with bright tablecloths and a big party.
