HALLSVILLE, Mo. – A Missouri middle school teacher is being lauded for her quick actions after performing the Heimlich maneuver on a student who had a piece of candy stuck in his throat.

Betsy Berry says she has no formal training in the Heimlich maneuver, but saw her father do it for her mother when she was young.

Surveillance video captured the moment she jumped behind Gage and starting performing the Heimlich maneuver.  She managed to dislodge the candy just as fellow teaches rush to help.
