John Calley pleads in gas station hit-and-run

IONIA, Mich. — John Calley, brother of Lt. Gov. Brian Calley, has pleaded no contest to two charges connected to a January hit-and-run at an Ionia County gas station.

Calley pleaded no contest Tuesday to reckless driving and failing to stop for a personal injury accident, according to Ionia County District Court officials.   Officials say he dragged a friend Jan. 28 while she attempted to re-enter his vehicle at the Pilot Gas Station, 7205 South State Road in Orange Township.

Calley also pleaded guilty to third-degree retail fraud, according to Ionia County District Court Officials.  He will be sentenced Dec. 7.
