Man shot during attempted armed robbery, search continues for suspect

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich – Investigators with the Grand Rapids and Wyoming Police Departments are incorporating the help of K9 officers to try to find the exact location of an attempted armed robbery on Wednesday night that sent a man to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Grand Rapids Police say the shooting victim, a 43-year-old male,  was in the area of 33rd Street and Eastern Avenue when a suspect approached him and tried to rob him.

The victim was shot twice in the leg according to police, and is expected to survive.  He was taken to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital.

The suspect was believed to be wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and stone washed jeans.

So far, attempts to find the suspect have been unsuccessful.
