CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. — There’s one less blighted home in Battle Creek.

On Thursday, crews demolished a house on High Street. The Calhoun County Land Bank teamed up with Markos Excavating to get the job done.

The demolition was paid for by the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, which budgeted $600,000 through the year to help clean up blight in the area. It has been budgeted for demolitions throughout the year so most of them have been completed but there are more scheduled through December.

The Land Bank works with local municipalities to determine which blighted buildings would make the biggest impact.
