COMSTOCK, Mich. - The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department is investigating an overnight homicide.

Deputies were called to the home on Carter Street in Comstock at about 7:30am.  A woman called 911 reporting a domestic fight in progress.  When deputies arrived, the woman let them in. Inside, they found a 35-year-old man, dead, and evidence that a fight had taken place.  The woman was taken into custody without incident.

"We're trying to find out exactly what occurred leading up to the point where the individual was killed. That's going to take a little bit of time to the sift through," Kalamazoo County undersheriff Paul Matyas said.

Matyas said the man was stabbed in the chest.  The crime scene was the victim's parent's home and officials are having a hard time notifying them of the death because they are on a cruise.  The relative also was not aware of who the woman in custody would be.

"The deputies are familiar with the individual who's deceased," Matyas said.

He added, "We want to see if any of our prior contacts are related to what went on today."

We'll have more details when they become available.
