BRONSON TWP, Mich. — One person was seriously injured after a three car collision in Branch County Saturday afternoon.

It happened around 1:30 PM. Branch County Sheriff’s Deputies learned that a Jeep driven by Charles Birch, 52 from Bronson, pulled onto US-12 from Weaver Road into the path of an eastbound vehicle. The eastbound vehicle – driven by Benito Luna-Ramirez, 23 and also from Bronson – swerved to go around the Jeep but lost control, sliding into the way of a westbound vehicle driven by Jesus Alejandro-Montoya, 37 from Sturgis. Luna-Ramirez was struck broadside.

Luna-Ramirez was seriously injured and was flown to Bronson Hospital by Life Flite helicopter. Alejandro-Montoya had two minors in his vehicle; both of whom were taken to the Coldwater Community Health Center for minor injuries.

The Jeep driven by Birch was not damaged.

The accident remains under investigation by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
