HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – The man accused of being distracted in a crash that killed a 13-year-old boy has pleaded guilty.
Travis Fox entered the plea on November 17th to one count of a “moving violation causing death.” Fox, of Indiana, had originally pleaded not guilty in October.
Fox told Ottawa County deputies that he was eating a sandwich while driving on I-196 near Hudsonville when he looked down at his GPS and hit the car carrying David Talsma, which had stopped for construction traffic. Talsma’s older sister was driving the car. The crash happened on August 3rd.
Fox could face up to a year in jail. He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 22nd.
Five vehicles were involved in the crash and nine people were injured.
