Obama: ‘Insane’ people on the ‘no-fly’ list can buy guns

WASHINGTON (CNN) — President Barack Obama said Saturday that it is “insane” that people who are not allowed to fly on planes are allowed to buy guns.

“Right now, people on the No-Fly list can walk into a store and buy a gun. That is insane. If you’re too dangerous to board a plane, you’re too dangerous, by definition, to buy a gun,” he said in his weekly address. “And so I’m calling on Congress to close this loophole, now. We may not be able to prevent every tragedy, but — at a bare minimum — we shouldn’t be making it so easy for potential terrorists or criminals to get their hands on a gun that they could use against Americans.”

Republicans have leveled withering criticism of Obama for tying the massacre to gun control. And also for not, in their view, playing up the terror aspect most immediately.

Still, the possibility that the San Bernardino, California, shooting suspects were radicalized confirms the need for people “to work together” to prevent this from happening, Obama said.

“We know that ISIL and other terrorist groups are actively encouraging people — around the world and in our country — to commit terrible acts of violence, often times as lone wolf actors,” the president said. “And even as we work to prevent attacks, all of us — government, law enforcement, communities, faith leaders — need to work together to prevent people from falling victim to these hateful ideologies.”

Authorities say Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik — one, a U.S. citizen and the other, a permanent resident — shot and killed 14 people at a holiday party at the Inland Regional Center. Both were killed in a police shootout, and officials said thousands of rounds of ammunition and 12 pipe bombs were found in the couple’s apartment.

“It is entirely possible that these two attackers were radicalized to commit this act of terror. And if so, it would underscore a threat we’ve been focused on for years — the danger of people succumbing to violent extremist ideologies,” Obama said.

Finally, he is beginning to see the light! We DON’T need new laws then, because it is already illegal for “insane” people to purchase or possess firearms. Thank you Mr. Obama, for coming around and admitting how wrong you have been in your approach to this problem!

“It is entirely possible that these two attackers were radicalized to commit this act of terror.”
It is also entirely possible that they were acting completely independently, and just wanted to draw attention to themselves.
It is entirely possible that Obama is directing this charade himself, in an effort to bolster the ridiculous and cornered position he has painted himself into where terrorism is concerned.
It is entirely possible that Americans are so completely fed up with the BS coming out of DC that they would rather have Donald freaking Trump as president than ANYONE remotely associated with traditional politics.
It is entirely possible that we are witnessing the beginnings of an American Spring, wherein the people of the United States elect a leader who is willing to admit that our current federal government is incapable of living up to its Constitutional obligations, and must therefore be dissolved, leaving each state to decide whether to re-form a union or to proceed into the 21st century independently.

    It is entirely possible…….

President Barack Obama said Saturday that it is “insane” that people who are not allowed to fly on planes are allowed to buy guns.

And, who’s fault is that? Do something about it Obama!

  • NO PC FOR ME

Been researching. A person who has been involuntarily committed to a mental institution is NOT allowed to buy a weapon.
Barry couldn’t tell the truth if our nations freedom depended on ot.

Mr. Obama – new laws are not needed! You need to have your Justice Department enforce the ones we have, and not having your Attorney General stating that she will violate the Bill of Rights and the Constitution!

It is a good thing Obama has his own plane, because he meets the criteria for the no-fly list himself!
Frequent international travel, Muslim name, person of color, on record as holding views hostile to those expressed by the US Constitution, on record as having acted in violation of the US Constitution and encouraging others to do the same, known involvement in military actions overseas…I don’t know what other criteria the DHS uses to place someone on the No-fly List, but I bet he meets a bunch more of them as well.

So seeing as how people on the No-fly List can not be trusted with firearms, perhaps we ought not to trust one of them with the executive office in our federal government.

Obama’s idea of sane gun control is for all law abiding people in the country and even the world to give up gun ownership and submit to his rule. Since the criminals don’t obey any laws they don’t like, they will not be affected. But they will have to steal their guns from the police and the military. That will be a little more difficult, but not much more. They are already doing it regularly in countries where civilian gun ownership is restricted or prohibited.

And he is forgetting that guns stopped his brother and sister from killing more people oh maybe thats why he wants our guns so him and his people can keep doing it, oh and he has guns protecting him too.
