Mona Shores student reports attempted abduction at bus stop: Police

NORTON SHORES, Mich. — A 15-year-old Mona Shores student said a man attempted to abduct her at a bus stop Tuesday morning, according to Norton Shores Police Department.

The incident reportedly happened at about 11 a.m. at  Grand Haven Road and Mt. Garfield Road, according to police.  The teen told police that a man told her to get in his van and allegedly threatened her when she refused.

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his 40s with a large build.  He was wearing a dark t-shirt at the time of the incident, is mostly bald and has a scruffy beard, according to a release.

He was reportedly driving a white minivan that had rust over the passenger side rear wheel, according to a release.

The man allegedly drove off after a school bus approached.  Police say the school hours were adjusted for exam week and buses were picking up students at different times than usual.
