The two graphics above show the difference in snow depth one year ago today. West Michigan has no snow on ground this year, compared to as much as 6-12 inches last year. Parts of the Upper Peninsula had well over a foot of snow on the ground last year compared to just a trace this year.

Snowfall in Grand Rapids as of December 9 this year is 3. 5 inches, which fell in mid November. The total for Grand Rapids last year on this date was 31.1 inches.

Snowfall in Muskegon as of December 9 this year is 3.9 inches, again all falling in mid November. The total for Muskegon last year on this date was 25. 6 inches.

No snow is expected for the next week to 10 days with temperatures staying above average. Some computer models indicate a change in the overall pattern with colder weather and the chance of snow the week of Christmas.
