There are plenty of scams out there. A lot of people are getting calls from people claiming to be from the IRS. But the IRS says they never call people.
But should open a letter from the IRS or some other government body?
Yes.
But here's what the Better Business Bureau says:
- The letter should direct you to a .gov web site
- The letter should give you a 25-digit PIN to use
- The government does not send emails and doesn't make calls
