KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Officers are searching for a man they say robbed a Family Dollar store and struck it’s manager in the head with a gun Thursday night.

Just before 9:00 p.m. Thursday night, Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to an armed robbery that had taken place at Family Dollar in the 500 block of N. Park.

Upon their arrival, officers found that the suspect in the robbery had followed the store’s manager into an office and robbed him at gunpoint. Although no shots were fired, the suspect reportedly struck the manager in the head with a gun multiple times. The manager was not seriously injured and did not require medical treatment.

The suspect then fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash.  He was seen getting into a maroon four-door sedan.

He is being described as a black male in his 30’s, approximately 6 feet tall and 230 pounds. He was reportedly wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and white shoes.
