Kalamazoo man critical after being shot multiple times on Christmas

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Kalamazoo man is hospitalized after being shot multiple times Christmas afternoon.

At 2 p.m. Friday, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to a report of shots fired in the 2700 block of Westbrook Avenue. Moments later, a shooting victim called police to report that he was injured.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered that a 20-year-old Kalamazoo man had been shot multiple times by an unknown assailant while the victim was inside his apartment. The man is currently undergoing surgery at Bronson Hospital.

Late Friday, police released a composite sketch of a possible suspect connected to the case. Police are looking an African American male with light complexion. According to a press release,  he’s described as being approximately 20-28 years old, wearing a white thermal long sleeve shirt, black jeans and a gray stocking cap.  He also has a mustache and goatee.

The incident remains under investigation by Kalamazoo DPS.
