PORTAGE, Mich. — Two suspects are in custody on suspicion of breaking into a string of vehicles early Christmas morning.
Officers at Portage Department of Public Safety responded around 4:30 a.m. to a report of three people going through vehicles in the 9300 Block area of Chapel St.
The three subjects reportedly attempted to flee the area when officers arrived. Two of them were apprehended, while a third is believed to still be at large.
A substantial amount of property believed to be stolen was recovered on scene.
Officers say any connection with this incident to other recent burglaries in the area is yet to be determined.
