Fire crews respond to mobile home fire in Rockford area

ROCKFORD, Mich. —  A mobile home  in Oakfield Township is considered a total loss following a fire on Wednesday.

The call came in shortly before 7:30 p.m. at a home in the 9600 block of 10 Mile Road.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Department said flames were seen shooting out of the windows.

Fire officials on scene said a man in his mid 50’s was sleeping inside when the fire broke out.

The man was the only one inside and made it out safely.

The Kent County Fire Investigator is working to determine a cause for the fire.

Fire crews from Grattan Township, Oakfield Township, and Cannon Township responded to the scene.
