GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The man accused of killing a Grand Rapids woman and setting her and her car on fire along I-96 will go to trial.

Donald Spice was bound over for trial Tuesday for the Open Murder of Lori Vargas in early November.  Vargas’s body was found in a burned out car along I-96 in Wright Township.

Spice is also being charged with Mutilation of a Dead Body.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s department was called to the report of a car fire on I-96 eastbound in Wright Township about 2:30am on November 9.  They found the body of Vargas in the car.  Shortly after, they say they found Spice walking on Ironwood Drive.  Deputies determined he was connected to the burned vehicle and taken into custody.
