NEW YORK (AP) — At least 37 deaths are now linked to the blizzard that pounded much of the East Coast over the weekend. Many of the fatalities were from car accidents, carbon monoxide poisoning or heart attacks while shoveling.

More than 2,500 flights have been delayed or canceled today in the aftermath of the massive weekend blizzard in the eastern part of the country. But that’s a big improvement from the 3,100 flights that failed to take off Friday and 4,500 grounded on Saturday during the height of the storm.

Today, airports in the New York City and Washington D.C. metro areas are the hardest hit.

Federal government offices in the Washington area are closed today, but main roadways are mostly clear of snow.

In Pennsylvania, residents are digging out from a snowstorm that crippled a stretch of the turnpike. Many schools are closed because crews are still clearing local roads.
