GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A Grand Rapids company has made it official and told their union members Tuesday that their manufacturing operations are moving to Mexico.

Dematic, located on Grand Rapids’ northeast side, said Tuesday that the move to a facility in Monterrey, Mexico will impact about 300 Grand Rapids fabrication, assembly, warehouse and plant administration positions.  900 other jobs in sales, engineering, customer service and administration are not affected.

On January 6, the company sent the United Auto Workers Union the 60-day notice that the company was considering the move.

The company says that the move is expected to be complete by September.  The transition will take place over the next several months.
