Meijer Gardens reveals four artists for upcoming 2016 summer concert series

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park has unveiled four acts that will be performing at the hugely popular Fifth Third Bank Summer Concerts this summer.

The artists announced on Tuesday include The Monkees, Of Monsters and Men, The Decemberists, and Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals.

The complete lineup will be announced in mid-April.  Members of Meijer Gardens will be able to purchase tickets during a members-only pre-sale that runs April 30 through May 13.  Tickets will go on sale to the general public on May 14.

Below are the initial details on the four aforementioned acts.

The Monkees
June 8
Assembled in Los Angeles in 1965 by Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider for the television series The Monkees, the quartet of Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, and the late Davy Jones brought a singular mix of pop,rock, psychedelica, Broadway and country to their music. Now in 2016, Micky and Peter are set to delight fans on tour while celebrating The Monkees 50th Anniversary

Of Monsters and Men
June 13
Of Monsters and Men first had the world talking in 2011 with their infectious quadruple-platinum smash "Little Talks." An engaging mix of authentic indie and alternative, the Icelandic quintet's critically praised full-length debut "My Head Is An Animal" climbed to the top of the Billboard Top 200 and has sold over two million albums worldwide.

The Decemberists
July 11
The Decemberists are an indie folk band featuring Meloy, Chris Funk (guitars), Jenny Conlee (keyboards), Nate Query (bass) and John Moen (drums). In 2011, their album "The King is Dead" entered the Billboard album charts at number one, and the track "Down by the Water" was nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Rock Song" category.

Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals

Singer-songwriter, Ben Harper plays a mix of worldbeat, folk, soul, blues and rock and is known for this guitar-playing
skills and live performances. A three-time Grammy Award Winner, Harper has won for Best Pop
Instrumental Performance, Blues Album and Traditional Soul Gospel Album. A few of his hit singles include:
“Steal My Kisses,” “Forever,” “Burn One Down,” “Walk Away” and “Waiting On an Angel.”
