Snow plows out in force during winter storm

WEST MICHIGAN – Nearly 90 snow plows with new blades were put on the road to help combat Wednesday’s winter weather. Andy Albertson with the Kent County Road Commission gave FOX 17 a ride along to show how demanding it can be to clear the roads.

“Everyone’s in a hurry and everybody's late,” said Albertson.  "You've just got to slow down. We're out here for their benefit, we

'We're not here to get in the way or try to tie things up. We're trying to clean the roads up so they can keep driving.”

Albertson said he and his team have been salting intersections, scraping roadways, and putting down chemicals since 11 a.m. Wednesday and will continue to do so throughout Friday.

“It’s a job that doesn’t stop until the snow does,” said Albertson.
