WEST MICHIGAN -- Spring break is right around the corner, but health experts say you should take precautions before traveling due to the Zika virus. The virus has been found in several popular tropical travel destinations, including Mexico, Puerto Rico, and much of Central and South America.

The Kent County Health Department says pregnant women in any trimester should not travel to these areas, while others should take precautions before doing so. The virus cannot be spread by a cough, sneeze, or casual contact. But evidence suggests it can be spread via sexual contact.
