Good morning!  It was an incredibly cold and foggy morning in many locations throughout West Michigan.

Lots of single digits temperatures in many areas.  Combining that with some dense fog provided a frozen glaze on many objects and surfaces this morning.

Frozen fog provided the trees with a nice rime coating.  This photo shared from Hudsonville by Rachel Malott Katsma.

A really nice sunrise and almost deceiving as it’s a cold sunshine…for now.  Temps will warm up into the mid 30s by this afternoon.

A snapshot of the radar imagery just after 8:30 this morning shows a cold front in the Dakotas.  This will have little impact on us during the daytime hours, but snowfall arrives tonight into early tomorrow.

RPM 1

Shortly before midnight, light snow arrives around the lakeshore.  This will continue to spread inland as well throughout the morning.

RPM 2

As many of you will head to hockey practice or basketball or whatever you may have going on, many areas will have already picked up around an inch of snow.  Scattered snow showers will continue throughout the morning as well.

RPM 3

Light snow will all but taper off by early afternoon as it exits to the southeastern portion of our area.

Garry Snow Totals (7)

Snowfall totals will range from 1-3 inches throughout our area.  Areas along the lakeshore may see closer to that 3 inch total with some lake enhanced bands, but this will be a fairly light event.

Snow won’t last for too much longer as temps go above freezing Sunday afternoon and don’t look back for most of the week.  In fact, highs are expected to be near 60 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday with light rain showers to wash some of the salt off the roads.

Have a great weekend!  I’m looking forward to the warmer temperatures.  How about you?
