Gas prices to rise as refiners switch to ‘summer blend’

CHICAGO – You knew it had to end eventually.  Gas prices will soon be going back up.

Will Speer of GasBuddy.com blogged Friday that the national average of gasoline rose over six cents a gallon in just one day as refiners are switching over to the more expensive “summer blend” as the weather gets warmer.

The EPA has different fuel standards from winter to summer for cleaner burning gasoline. The seasonal switch does normally result in a rise in gas prices.
