BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- The effects of the terror attacks in Belgium early Tuesday morning are being felt by a Battle Creek family. Among those hurt was Battle Creek resident Sebastien Bellin, a former basketball player for Oakland University.

Bellin's immediate family told FOX 17 News that he was in Brussels for work and was about to come home when one of the bombs went off at the airport. The Twitter account for the Belgian basketball team Oostende reports that he was thrown 20 meters from one of the bomb blasts.

His family says Bellin is in stable condition after undergoing surgery Tuesday morning. He has at least one more surgery planned to remove the rest of the debris from his body.

The terror attacks consisted of a subway bombing and twin explosions at an airport. The Associate Press is reporting that 30 people died.
