33 headstones tipped and broken in Van Buren Co. cemetery

GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office is asking for help in finding the people responsible for damaging 33 headstones in a cemetery over the weekend.

The vandalism was reported Tuesday afternoon at the Lacota Cemetery in the 60000 block of Baseline Road and investigators believe the damage may have happened Saturday evening, March 19.

Investigators say that approximately 33 headstones were tipped over or broken. They don't have any idea of suspects at this time, but believe a pickup truck or an SUV may have been involved.  Suspects would likely be charged with Malicious Destruction of Property.
