Plans for new downtown restaurant released; hiring underway

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Plans for the restaurant in the new Arena Place development have been released.

Wheelhouse will be a 270-seat American bistro with seasonal recipes using local suppliers.  The Meritage Hospitality, which is opening the restaurant, promises a “sophisticated, yet approachable” menu with such items as Pan Fried Goat Cheese, Smoked Sea Scallops and Bucatini, according to a press release.  The menu prices will range from $6 to $16 for appetizers and $16 to $36 for entrees.

The Arena Place development is currently under construction at the corner of Ottawa and Oakes in downtown Grand Rapids.

The restaurant will include a bar and porch that seats 85, three gas-burning, built-in fireplaces, a 12 ft. HD video wall with nine screens and an LED backlit bar with two 72-inch HD TVs.

The restaurant is hiring 120 employees.  To apply for a position, apply in person at 32 Market Ave. SW at the restaurant’s open house through April 1.  Applications are available at wheelhousecareers.com .
